Tiredness / Fatigue

Tiredness Warning Lights: Like dashboard warning lights, the onset of chronic tiredness or fatigue is a symptom that something is not right. If ignored, these warning symptoms will negatively impact your life. To avoid a breakdown, pull over and give yourself time to figure out what part of your life needs maintenance or repairs.

‘Cause You’re Tired: It’s hard to do anything when you are tired and ignoring its onset will not make it better. Whether it’s related to psychological, physical or lifestyle changes, you need to muster up enough energy to figure out why you are more tired than you usual. Ask a trusted family member, friend or professional for assistance in getting the help & support that you need.

Bloody Tired: Consult with your physician and be prepared to talk about bloodwork. Hormones (TSH, T3, T4, Testosterone, DHEA), Vitamins (B9, B12, D), Minerals (Iron/Ferritin, TIBC, Zinc, Magnesium), Hemoglobin/Hematocrit, Liver Functions (ALP, AST, ALT), Blood Sugar (A1C), Infections (WBC, CRP) are some of the bloodwork that should be considered when searching for the reasons why you are feeling bloody tired.

Tired of Homework: Before consulting with a physician, do your homework. Read about tiredness & fatigue as a symptom. Then, write a list of your questions and create a timeline of life events that will help your physician identify possible causes of your tiredness. Remember to hand in your written questions & timeline to your physician, because you will be too tired to remember everything.

Real Tired: Know that you are tired for real. Don’t compare yourself to others. Just compare yourself to yourself. And even if someone tells you that it’s part of the aging process, don’t believe that it’s the only thing impacting this symptom.

Tiredness Detective: Be a detective and look for clues as to why you are chronically tired. Look for changes in your psychological, physical and lifestyle health. Don’t overlook multiple causes to why you are feeling tired. Your healthy and happy life are depending on you. Make your tiredness a priority as it will only get better with your help.
