Smoking & Vaping, In Common: Smoking & vaping have the following in common. Both support nicotine addiction. Both irritate & damage lung lining. Both increase blood pressure & heart rate which contribute to heart attacks, strokes & heart disease. Both lead to chronic diseases such as irreversible lung diseases & cardiovascular disease.

Nicotine: Reduce, Resist: Every time you resist strong nicotine cravings, you are strengthening your ability to stop your addition. Try approved methods to help reduce & resist the nicotine urge: 1)Nicotine replacement (prescription or over-the-counter); 2)Non-nicotine prescriptions; 3)Avoid triggers; 4)Delay lighting up; 5)Chew on something with low calories; 6)Get moving; 7)Relaxation techniques; 8)Social support or 9)Journaling/Writing.

Vaping, NOT: Vaping has NOT been proven to help someone quit smoking. Vaping is NOT a recognized means to stop smoking. Vaping has NOT been proven to be safer or more effective than other available methods for quoting smoking.

Vapor & the Juice: There are no regulations for vaping juice & when the juice is vaporized, it contains multiple unknown substances. Common compounds found in vaping juice & its vapor are also found in weed killer, car exhaust, toxic metals, antifreeze, heavy metals, nicotine, processed food additives, paint solvent, and carcinogens.

Deadly Stats: Smoking is directly responsible for approximately 90% of lung cancer deaths and for about 80% of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In the USA, it accounts for 480,000 deaths per year (1,300 death per day). Cigarettes contain 7,000 chemicals of which 69 are carcinogens. Although Vaping juice & it’s vapor contain less chemicals than cigarettes, they still contain nearly 2,000 chemicals of which many are unknown and unregulated.
